SPORTS ICON – P.V.SINDHU
Pursarla Venkata SINDHU, a professional badminton player, is a name well known in India and the international badminton circuits. She started playing badminton at the age of eight when she drew inspiration from Pullela Gopichand’s victory in the All England Open Badminton Championship in 2001.
She became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal and the first Indian to win a world championships gold when she outclassed former champion Nozomi Okuhara in a one-sided final in Basel. She has transformed herself from a wiry teen to a confident woman. At 6 feet tall she dominates the badminton courts and off the courts she is a role model for all young girls. She is our pick for Style Icon of the week.
