Kalamkaari prints have become quite common, and we see them everywhere, on sarees, blouses, Kurtis, upholstery etc. Kalamkaaris are actually fine examples of traditional Indian Art. What we wear usually are from the Machilipatnam area and consists mainly of handblock prints with intricate detailing by hand. The artistic form of it comes from Srikalahasti, where the sketching is done using tamarind twigs to create images of gods and depict the epics Ramayana and Mahabaratha.
